Frederick W. (Rick) & Janet S. Reichert’s Estate Gift to Support Future Masonic Philanthropy
Apologies to Hunter S. Thompson, but the ideal “life’s journey to the grave … skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a Ride!’ ” may still leave unused resources behind. Although you can’t take it with you, as the cliché goes, you can certainly direct where it goes.
Jan and I provided for a part of our estate to go to the Kansas Masonic Foundation. It wasn’t the majority share but enough that we know we’ll continue to make a positive impact long after our tenure on earth is complete. We chose the Foundation because we know, through both our service to the Foundation as a Trustee and as careful observers of the results of our charitable endeavors, that the KMF is effective, true to its intent, under trusted management by brother Masons, and continues to put Kansas Lodges at the center of the Masonic philanthropic universe.
Are there other worthy causes and foundations? Of course. However, I can think of no other charity that is under the care and keeping by brothers who know me and have the same level of dedication and commitment toward our craft and fellow citizens. With that implicit trust and assurance in KMF, I know the intent of our legacy gift will be fulfilled: To be of service to fellow Masons, their families, and our longtime Kansas neighbors for the foreseeable future.
